Deano's Springwater Smoked Trout was first established in 1999 as a hobby of passion. Set amongst the rolling hills in the Northern tablelands of NSW, the property consists of 300 acres of pristine countryside with the fish farm itself being 10 hectares.
We now have eight spring water ponds we use for growing trout and yabbies, each 35 metres squared. The fish farm is stocked primarily with rainbow trout, as well as brown trout and Atlantic salmon. All our fish are grown in spring water and ingest a natural diet as well as an organic pellet.
Trout are a hard fish to farm, there is a lot to learn, so tours take roughly an hour to complete where we show you our fish growing ponds and how we make our award winning products.
We are very passionate about our work, and want to give you the best experience possible. In order to achieve this, we take you on a fully guided tour around the property on our CanAm buggie. The cost of a tour is $10 per person.
photo: the road through our eight supply dams
Our recreational dam is teaming with rainbow trout, brown trout, brook trout silver perch, and Atlantic salmon. With lush green grass, a beautiful view, a fountain, BBQ, and plenty of fish to catch, our rec dam is the perfect outing. We charge a small fee of $20 per adult and $10 per child. The fee does not apply to those who chose not to fish.
We offer rod and lure hire at $10 for the day, so you don't have to worry about getting your gear ready or packing it up at the end of the day. Sit back, relax, and enjoy the view.
Rainbow Trout is very rich in Omega-3 fatty acids and is also a natural source of protein, potassium, B-Vitamin complex, selenium and phosphorus.
Once our trout have reached a mature size, they are then smoked using oakwook in a modern and professional smoking oven.
We have spent many years perfecting our smoked trout to get the best quality and tasting product possible, and our products are in high demand across NSW.
Our smoked trout dip was awarded a bronze medal during the 2016 Royal Easter Show and, our smoked fillet received a silver medal.
Our traditional wood smoked fillets are available in many different flavours:
